Most groundbreaking technologies start off being extremely unviable on a production scale (e.g. The first digital computer built was half the size of a room and extremely expensive to boot). However, we have seen time and time again that research into technology have not disappointed us.
Within Africa, a project helmed by Google called CSquared is already underway. They aim to build a metro fibre network in Uganda, serving up fibre connection to the citizens there. Let’s hope that the project continues to expand and hopefully bring fibre connections to the rest of Africa in the neat future.
